Couldn't show this yesterday because I didn't want to spoil the surprise. This is the valentine I made for my Mister. I found this gorgeous piece of wood on one of my nature rambles, and set it aside, knowing I would eventually do something with it. Notice the heart-shaped hole of the piece. Voila! My guy loves wood and owls, so he was quite pleased.

Admittedly, the photo's not too good. I don't know if there's a way to photograph something underneath glass without creating a glare. But any hoot *groan*, it was fun.
That's lovely :0)
ReplyDeleteThanks Val!xo
ReplyDeleteLOVE IT!!! Is it a shadow box? How did you do the owl?
ReplyDeleteYou are a hoot! And so very gifted.
ReplyDeleteI LOVE OWLS! i wish that the picture was clearer. I want to see the little owl's face.
ReplyDeleteMaybe next year you can get him (as Winnie the Pooh would call it) A Wolery.
Oh I love it. So much fun. Its just the kind of piece that you would have to stop and look at on the wall. What does the wording say?
ReplyDeleteLeslie, no, it's not a shadow box, just a regular matt and frame. The piece of wood was very flat, so it worked.
ReplyDeleteOh, P.S. I forgot--the owl came from a vintage bird book I found in a junk shop. I didn't mind cutting it out because the book was already falling apart. I save those kinds of things for collages and stuff.
ReplyDeleteCheryl, the wording says, 'Who loves ya, baby?' in Blackadder script. :)
ReplyDeletethat's so cute...best kind of gift!
ReplyDeleteI love that you found the owl in a vintage bird book. I never thought of finding/keeping books like that for art projects. But of course you would...
ReplyDeleteWhat a creative Valentine gift of the heart! Wonderful!

ReplyDeleteThis is lovely and so unique!
ReplyDeleteMaybe if you took another picture from more of an angle it would minimize the reflection.

ReplyDeleteThanks, Chelsey; I did try that, but the result was the same.

ReplyDeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteP.S. Guess what my mom and I are watching right now. HINT: if you were here, you'd be excited.
ReplyDeleteYIKES! If it is what I think it is, I hope it doesn't disappoint. xo
