"Whatssamatta ya scared?"

Barbara Stanwyck. I love her old black-and-white films (Lady Eve, hi-larious!) She has a line in a movie that I can't remember the title of (arrgh!), but she said, "Whatsamatta, ya scared?"In a real sassy tough girl way.I always wanted to use that line, but never had a good reason to up 'til now. Eeep! Introducing my bird of prey scarecrow. To all those garden-nibbling rabbits and groundhogs out there: "Whatsamatta, ya scared?" Muahahaha!

BOOM!

Love the Scare Bird! It's very native looking and cool. I also love the hipster shot of your cool shoes ;)

Very cute. Let us know how it works out. It's definitely more dazzling than a scarecrow.

Does it really work? Wonderful, even if it doesn't. Now what should we do to keep cats out of the salad garden?

Is that a sweet potato? Can I share this with the gardening gang?

JoAnn, yes and yes. :)

Dewena, don't know if it works - it's the first time I've made one. Cats in the garden...yes, that's a pain in the neck. I'm always shooing our cats out. But they never seem to go in boxes where I've planted marigolds. I wonder if their scent repels them.

Probably, marigolds seem to repel a variety of animals and insects.

i love the hipster shot, too (and the scare-hawk is very cool.) you don't have a habit of turning rabbits into piano ornaments, do you? ;)

It looks pretty scary to me. I'll be interested to know if the critters find it so.

Wow, this looks scary, yes it does....But I've also had a lot of success with 2 or three pie plates hanging from a pole. they move in the wind and bang together and scare away many things.....I had these poles every 3 or 4 feet when I had a vegetable garden...Now I'm gardening more on the deck.

I just want to let you know... I'm not even sure what. That I'm back among your readers after a time. That I enjoy looking back through those posts of yours I missed recently, and less recently. That, after my old computer died on me and I started things afresh on the new one, your blog is finally, finally sitting firmly in my bookmarks, so I can return to it whever I want. :D

And a feathered potato scarecrow? That's just one of those things I love about this place.
