"'Here's my pretty lady!' he said, bowing to the hobbits. 'Here's my Goldberry all clad in silver-green with flowers in her girdle! Is the table laden? I see yellow cream and honeycomb, and white bread, and butter; milk, cheese, and green herbs and ripe berries gathered. Is that enough for us? Is the supper ready?'
'It is,' said Goldberry."

Her marvelous creation
"It was a long and merry meal. Though the hobbits ate, as only famished hobbits can eat, there was no lack. The drink in their drinking-bowls seemed to be clear cold water, yet it went to their hearts like wine and set free their voices. The guests became suddenly aware that they were singing merrily, as if it were easier and more natural than talking."
"'Have peace now,' she said, 'until the morning! Heed no nightly noises! For nothing passes door and window here save moonlight and starlight and the wind off the hill-top. Good night!'"

Loveliness surrounds your table. Always.
Everything looks so lovely!
This is the prettiest thing I've ever seen. This meal is a work of art, and your photography captured the essence of it. I'm kind of stunned right now, just as I was when I saw the table in Age of Innocence and heard Edith Wharton's words being read by Joanne Woodward (hope I'm spelling her name right). Your post is as lovely as that was.
Wow Dewena, that was very nice of you to say. And yes, I think you did spell the name right.
Thank you, Nancy and Elizabetya!
oh my.
dewena told me this post and your whole site are enchanting. and it is!
the mellow light . . . the work of art that is the food . . . the smiles and love.
enchanting is the right word.
thank you!
A glorious affair. Oh, to be a hobbit for a night in your home!
Was Mr Bombadil there too? :0)
Love the pie!
Tammy, thank you very much!
Renee, I wish you could too. :)
Val, but of course!
How beautiful! It sort of takes my breath away, all that golden glow. And that beautiful pie. It has such a Tolkienish look and feeling to it. You didn't actually eat such a piece of art, did you? ;->
Kristi, as beautiful as the pie was, we gobbled it up only the way hobbits would.
Oh, Jodi, I wondered if you had seen this:

Judging by the lovely art on the card you send me, I think you would enjoy looking at it. You can see a slideshow of all the panels. What a fabulous project!
Kristi, Thank you for the link. I'm looking forward to perusing it S-l-o-w-l-y! :). Also I'm glad you like my art card. I was experimenting with egg tempera.
This post is charming, and I mean that in the most exquisite sense of the word.
That PIE!!! It's a work of art. And your home, as always, is a vision of warmth, beauty, and light.
OH Jodi! What can I say! Your post tonight was a feast for the eyes. Just beautiful. Jodi, you and your family are so special.Dottie
That pie is really amazing! Delicious on the eyes and the stomach!
Thank you, kind hobbit Jodi, for posting this glorious tribute to our feast! It was an honor to make a creation for you, you whose own creativity and love for Beauty has often inspired me to participate in It's reflection. Just like a true hobbit, you are always giving, and I wanted to give you something special in return!I love you so much!!!
Love, Goldberry
Love you, Rachel.<3
