Inspiration / collaboration

If you've never seen the movie The Secret of the Kells, you must. It's mesmerizing. This story is a fictionalized animation of a young monk named Brendan and the creation of the Book of Kells. Nothing makes my mouth water for pens, inks, and pigments like the Book of Kells and illuminated writings. I dream of one day learning the art in depth. But for now, I am content with my scribbles while pretending to be Brendan.

My daughter Bronwyn has been interested in film, and is teaching herself how to make short vignettes. I'm so proud of her. Not only did she record and edit one of my prayer journal doodlings, but she mixed in the music, which comes from the soundtrack CD she bought me for Christmas, titled Brendan et le Secret de Kells. In a word, inspiring. I listen to it constantly, especially while doodling. Well done, Bron.

    Sounds like a good movie, enjoyed the music and short film your daughter put together. You could do a series of lessons in art. :-)

    The book of Kells captured my imagination when I first heard of them. Just thinking about it makes me happy. :)

    I heart your prayer journal. Thanks so much for sharing it again, especially in this fashion. Your daughter is quite talented, just like her mama. :)

    Bron is a talented videographer - she did a great, steady slow zoom in, which is really hard. And I like how she timed the music perfectly with the clip. Well done Bron!

    We will definitely have to check out the movie!

    Thanks for the encouragement you all gave Bronwyn. She's quite creative and thoughtful, and I enjoy having her as my partner in crafty crime. Stacy, Bron said she'd love to visit you since she loves tea. :)

    I hope this inspires you all to give prayer journal doodling a try; you'd be amazed at how it helps you to keep your mind on what you're praying for. And what comes out during doodling is just the added bonus.

    Because I don't like that he wakes me up at 3am every day. For no good reason, I might add. When I ask, "WHAT?", he just saunters out of the room with his tail curved in that question mark shape. He's more like the Cat in the Hat.

    I'm here to say that I'll be back after my run to read this with coffee and a clear head...
    I've missed you.

    And now I now that we are forever friends...
    I wanted to name my second baby, if a girl, Bronwyn. But I got nothing but grief from my friends and family.... and decided on Deanna.
    How bizarre/amazing is that?! I still think it's the most beautiful of names .
