Feeling brave enough to show you the oil painting of my daughter. It's called, Bron Daydreaming. I signed it, so I think it's finished. But then again it might not be, and I'll pull it from the wall a month from now and change something I can't see yet. Art imitating life I guess. The song below inspired her portrait. It's one of Bronwyn's favorites, and mine too, especially the part about the Holy Spirit burning in the trees. Smile
This is beautiful, i would love to start painting but i just know il be rubbish at it by now :-(

It's beautiful! Bron is always such a good model. :)
ReplyDeleteAqeela, I doubt you'd be rubbish. :) I know you have an eye for beauty judt from what I've seen on your blog. I think, if you have the desire to paint, you should go for it.
ReplyDeleteThanks, Steph! She is.
ReplyDeleteLove it. Seriously.
ReplyDeleteIt's a real gift when you share your heart creation with us. Thank you. I love this - and the song that goes with it, so very much. And I'm glad you signed it ;)
ReplyDeleteYou captured Bron, as well as the spirit of day dreaming particular to your children, very well. I like it.
ReplyDeleteWonderful painting--I love how her head is turned looking out the window and the total pose seems to suggest that she has just turned her head that way--so she looks like she has just this second stopped moving in that direction. Must make you both very happy.
ReplyDeleteThanks, everybody. I really do appreciate your encouraging comments. :)
ReplyDeletethere is such feeling in these brush-strokes. such love.
ReplyDeleteThis is so beautiful Jodi! I understand the feeling that something might need to yet be changed. lol It can be hard to say we are finished! :) I love the pops of red!
ReplyDeleteA beautiful intriguing painting, full of gentleness and mystery.
ReplyDeleteBut I do art too, and I know that feeling of uncertainty about whether one is finished...I usually strongly dislike (or at least are quite dissatisfied with) my work for several months after it is finished. But with time, I come to accept it. Do you ever experience this?
wow. just wow. you are amazing.
ReplyDeleteKristi, I feel that way all the time. In fact, I once painted over a painting I was unhappy with. Two years later I saw a photo with that very painting in the background (before I painted over it.) I could've kicked myself. THe artist I studied with told me it was good; I didn't believe her. Dumb. My philosophy now is just do it. Get it out. And do it for the love of it. "amāre" And to God be the glory.
ReplyDeleteAn excellent way to look at things!
ReplyDeleteThankyou, i think im going to give it a try with something simple when D starts pre-school in September, when i actually have the time!!

ReplyDeleteSo happy you're painting, and so glad I got to meet the original.
ReplyDeletePainting your daughter has got to be like creating art twice, right?
Very, very beautiful. I love it. What a happy thought....those of you there, blessed to be able to pass it by a good many times throughout each day, drinking it in whenever, and how ever long you like. I'm glad to be able to come visit it here {and of that sweet future hope of me, myself sitting right beside it's loveliness, and it's lovelies--subject and creator, for a most-meaningful spell}. Thanks for the kind sharing, you, and Bron, too. xo xo
ReplyDeleteWow I love your painting. It is just beautiful. You are so talented. Love the song too! It is going to be one of my new faves!
ReplyDeleteReally lovely, Jodi. Thanks for sharing it.
ReplyDeleteI think you captured Bron's creative spirit perfectly.
ReplyDeleteI love the painting, Jodi.
ReplyDeleteBronwyn is a great subject, and subject of the painting is great, too.
And the song...oh thank you for posting it. I needed to read and hear those words again, at this given moment, exactly.
Innocence mission hits the spot; so does Curious Acorn!
