Brave

Feeling brave enough to show you the oil painting of my daughter. It's called, Bron Daydreaming. I signed it, so I think it's finished. But then again it might not be, and I'll pull it from the wall a month from now and change something I can't see yet. Art imitating life I guess. The song below inspired her portrait. It's one of Bronwyn's favorites, and mine too, especially the part about the Holy Spirit burning in the trees. Smile

    Aqeela, I doubt you'd be rubbish. :) I know you have an eye for beauty judt from what I've seen on your blog. I think, if you have the desire to paint, you should go for it.

    Wonderful painting--I love how her head is turned looking out the window and the total pose seems to suggest that she has just turned her head that way--so she looks like she has just this second stopped moving in that direction. Must make you both very happy.

    This is so beautiful Jodi! I understand the feeling that something might need to yet be changed. lol It can be hard to say we are finished! :) I love the pops of red!

    A beautiful intriguing painting, full of gentleness and mystery.

    But I do art too, and I know that feeling of uncertainty about whether one is finished...I usually strongly dislike (or at least are quite dissatisfied with) my work for several months after it is finished. But with time, I come to accept it. Do you ever experience this?

    Kristi, I feel that way all the time. In fact, I once painted over a painting I was unhappy with. Two years later I saw a photo with that very painting in the background (before I painted over it.) I could've kicked myself. THe artist I studied with told me it was good; I didn't believe her. Dumb. My philosophy now is just do it. Get it out. And do it for the love of it. "amāre" And to God be the glory.

    Very, very beautiful. I love it. What a happy thought....those of you there, blessed to be able to pass it by a good many times throughout each day, drinking it in whenever, and how ever long you like.     I love the painting, Jodi.
    Bronwyn is a great subject, and subject of the painting is great, too.
