The Necessity of Chalk and Bread

As it's essential for me to excercise creative muscles, I've been putting some of my favorite tools to work.

These chalks, or pastels if you want to get fancy.

And this book. Seriously, if you love to bake, see if you can find it at your local library or amazon. It has some amazing recipes and inspiring photos.

Look at this bread. Gah! It's become necessary for me to bake it weekly. It's SO delicious, and the texture, while tender, is firm enough to slice beautifully. Perfect for sandwiches. Mike said the size and shape reminded him of the type of loaf you'd see in an old black and white movie. I'm sure he meant it as a compliment.

Now onto the chalk. One of the best things we ever did was paint the pantry doors with chalkboard paint. It's been loads of fun to play with.

Amen.

Joining Laura today.

  4. Your box of pastels (I'm being fancy) is lovely and so is your chalkboard door. Have been contemplating surfaces in my home that might like a coat of chalkboard paint. . . Love your artistic embellishment, too, Jodi :) I am clicking right over to my local library to see about that book. Yum!

  12. Kat, do paint something - anything - with chalkboard paint. It's so fun to create with, and when you're tired, erase it away!

  18. Our daily bread can be very delicious, and home baked is always the best.

    I like your pantry door.

Re cherries, I tried pitting a few by hand once for a fruit salad...what a mess! I can't imagine 3 pounds of them...yes, cherry pitters are definitely useful gadgets (I still don't have one though)...

  19. Misty, no--my handwriting is horrible. The drawings are mine. The handwriting belongs to my better half.

  26. Was able to order the book from my local library. I don't bake much, but enjoy reading about it. I have a sort of platonic love of baking.

And I think we've seen that door before. Didn't know it was the pantry door, and I love it....Trying to think where I could do such a thing, but not coming up with any good ideas yet.......But feeling inspired, none the less.
