    Niamh, some cakes here are called "slice." This is ginger slice.

    The sparrows are definitely delighting in your leftovers....although I have to say you didn't leave much of your delicious looking delicacy for them to enjoy...much have been really tasty.....

    Thanks Bron, the angle that the picture is taken makes it look like cake rather than a slice (there is a difference - but both are pastries).
