A means of happiness

holy experience

Counting blessings

84 - the windy days of March

85 - Being read to

86 - sleeping with the window open

87 - waking up to bird song

88 - the spicy smell of carnations

89 - roasted garlic

90 - bluebirds and pussy willows

91 - these words:

He is jealous for me
Love's like a hurricane, I am a tree
Bending beneath the weight of His wind and mercy
When all of a sudden, I am unaware
of these afflictions eclipsed by glory
and I realize just how beautiful You are
and how great your affections are for me.
Oh, how He loves us so

I love this post, especially numbers 86 & 87.. I can always be brought back to some of my happiest memories of childhood by finding time and opportunity to still myself by an open window to catch the purposeful sounds of the outdoors as I drfit off. Like the sound of a lawn mower in the far distance so it's only a buzz, sprinklers going off to water freshly shorn grass, birds singing and calling to one another, squirrels playing in trees and chomping away at acorns... it's almost hypnotic.

And number 91- it's absolutely breathtaking (and giving!) when I think about His love for us.

Thanks for this post, Jodi!

I enjoyed my visit here! I just heard this worship song you referenced last night for the first time! Exciting!! :) Blessings to you, fellow gratitude journaler!! :)

alive, I agree with you. I love all those sounds, especially the distant sound of a lawn mower. The sound of a car radio through an open window also reminds me of summer.

Since you read my post, I stalked yours and am so completely psyched that I did. Anyone who gets the movie Signs and knows what it means for Merrill to swing away, is surely a kindred spirit. Good luck in your homeschooling recovery!

Happy unbirthday yourself!
Mmmm. Roasted garlic. I think we could be best friends. I mean, stop stealing my favorites! :)

JoAnn, well, after reading your "How I tortured my sister in high school" post, I know we definitely would have hung out in high school. Although I think I'm a teeny bit older than you...*cough*

This post sounds like the Thanksgiving of a person recently released from prison...Thankful for the outside, the wind blowing on one's face, birdsong, the smell of fresh flowers, the flavor of home cooking, words of grace and redemption. Spring is such a sweet time when you've been cooped up all winter behind ice and snow.
It's warm enough here that we can take the Little Miss out and sit on the porch and swing. She'll happily sit for hours and watch the outside and feel the breeze on her face and watch the bugs and the birds dance about. It seems to me so much more wholesome to share with her the outdoors, especially when she is so interested in it, than to keep her inside. Creation attracts us and sets us free in ways that staying inside our homes cannot do.

There is no age on the internet! Stop it!
and you probably would have hung out with me. My high school was small and I was loud and obnoxious, so you wouldn't have had a choice. What am i saying? I'm still loud and obnoxious!
