For all things bright and good

holy experience

Counting blessings

129 - April nights that are still cool enough for a fire

130 - Homemade terrariums

131 - Green green grass after the snowiest winter ever

132 - tree bark

133 - Conquering my fear/hatred of the combustion engine, or the generosity of the man who let me drive his beloved tractor

I love how one person's blessing is another person's peeve...showing how personal our blessings actually are. I hate cold spring/autumn nights after warm days. You have to wear your summer clothes in the day and then change back into your winter clothes at night - ugh! But I do love tree bark - not just any tree bark though, mainly the silvery bark of the cherry trees (and also moss covered bark). Oh and when you talk about grass after snow, I so know how you feel! The first sprigs of green peeking through are so liberating! That being one of the things I learned in Boston, right after learning how much I detest the snow.
And you city people and your "tractors"...so cute the names you give to your lawn mowers. Another thing you city types do - you drive with a garbage can on the back of the mower (!?) it's not littering when it's grass.

You driving a lawn mower is AWESOME. You look so serious. I can tell you were really concentrating. You should blog a how to on the terrariums. They look so cool!
LOVE YOU! ! !

Wow. You get to drive the tractor. I'm still not allowed. Probably because of the state of my beat up Landrover. I'm missing the fire in the evenings. Something so comforting about the glow.

Niamh, #1, I knew calling it a tractor would amuse some farm girl out there somewhere. #2, those "garbage cans" are used for collecting grass to compost and mulch the veg garden. We city people are green like that. #3, I'm not a city person :)

JoAnn, that serious face is my fear/hate expression. In my mind, I'm imagining that I'm going to tip over or run over something cute and furry.
Love you back :)

Cheryl - I was surprised to be allowed as well. Machines and I are natural enemies.

I'm so glad everything is green again. That snow was much too much!

Steph, I tried to read your new post but there was only a photo. Is that how you had it, or is blogger acting funny?

love the photo of you on the mower -- my husband LOATHES mowing the grass ... especially waking up the next day to see that the dandelions (which i see have found your yard, too) always win!

KeLi, my husband LOVES mowing the grass, so it was very nice of him to let me give it a try. Mixed in with the dandelions are wild violets, so I don't mind so much :)

I liked the tractor photo.....I would like to do that, but our land is too bumpy & hilly, so W. says. :o) I also recognize the 'rocker', looks like it has a new seat, glad it found a good home. :o)

Haha, I was wondering if you'd recognize it, Toni!

yes Jodi, I ususally don't miss a 'good thing'...
I have a camellia bush near the apple bldg., I'm going to put a mason jar over top of it, to help it start looking better.
My 'polish grandma' used to root roses like that in her yard, she loved roses. Just like Elvis used to sing; 'his MAMA loved the roses'.....:o) maybe ya didn't know I was an Elvis fan.....when he was alive, I prefer the real thing to the imitation !! ha,ha........I've seen the 'imitation' they will never take his place.
toni :o)
