Where does the time go?

To all the young moms out there: kiss your babies lots and lots, 'cause they really will be grown before you know it. As they grow, cherish the late night heart-to-hearts. Soon enough, their heart may belong to another. Cheesy, I know, but as I've said before, this is my blog and I can wax sentimental if I want to.

In a few days, my family and I will be flying to the bottom of the world to witness our darling girl marry the best guy ever and begin their new life together in New Zealand, the land of the long white cloud. God is faithful. We have a twenty-some hour journey to our celebratory destination. Please keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Back in a while with pictures--yaaaay!

YOU!!!
You just made my cry! Seriously.
Whahh.

I just had a late night heart to heart with my little man. We analyzed the lyrics to Swing Low Sweet Chariot. "But mom, we're already home". etc.
I feel like I'll die when this time passes. BOO!

None of my own yet so making the most of the precious time with my best friends sweet 7 month old girl because she'll be off doing her own thing before we know it.
Whereabouts in NZ are you coming too? I'm in Nelson, top of the South Island. Bring your warm clothes, winter has set in! Hope you have a fabulous time here :-)

Oh, I really can't imagine the day they leave home. Probably in denial, but they do assure me that they never want to leave. Probably because I've promised to mess up their houses and bounce on their beds.

Do you age? The baby has grown and the glasses have changed, but I suspect you have a Dorian Gray style portrait in your attic.

Have a safe journey and I hope you enjoy the big day.

Have a wonderful adventure! I love seeing the old photos...and I can only imagine how spectacular New Zealand is. I have taken a break from the bible and am reading Hinds' Feet, since it has been calling my name for a couple of weeks. "Read me, read me! Moses is boring." All I can say is simply, thank you. I may do my first book review post when I am finished.

JoAnn, I made me cry, too. You're a great mom. Enjoy every moment.

Julia, heading to Auckland on the North island. The hardest part is knowing what to wear on the airplane, since it's 90 degrees here and winter there. Thanks for your well-wishes.

Cheryl, ha ha, so loved the Dorian Gray comment. I said that to someone once and they had no idea what I was talking about. Doesn't anyone read the classics anymore? hee, hee

Vicki, so glad you started Hind's Feet on High Places - I've been dying to ask you. Can't wait to see your book review. It's good to take a break. Moses will get interesting again, I promise.

Thank-You for the reminder, it is hard to believe my time is probably just around the corner with my daughter being 17 the time goes by fast, we have been playing a lot of Dogopoly together, and reading the same books. My son is 14 I miss them as babies and toddlers but this has been a great stage also. Married stage will be strange but I am sure good! I will be keeping you in my prayers.

I say AMEN to the 'sentimental' motherly advice, Jodi! I could weep just thinking of how fast time goes and how immense these changes are for us moms, happy though they be. I pray that your trip will be filled with joy and good memories, as well as grace to embrace the next phase of the journey.

When my oldest daughter was a little girl she told us she was going to buy her neighbors house, tear it down, and grow vegetables for us in our old age. And now her son, 5 yrs old, has told her nearly the same story!

I send prayers for your journey, for traveling mercies, and for your daughter's life of happiness.

is it okay that i'm finding this post late?

And I'm finding it even later!

I came back here this morning from your comment about the tui bird in New Zealand, and saw the link to this post. So your trip was quite recent! I just watched some videos of the tui on Youtube. Someone said it sounded like R2D2. Crazy sounds that bird makes! But I probably wouldn't have been any more successful in getting a good photo. I can never catch the songbirds. They just move too fast. As soon as I get ready to "click," they're gone. The water birds move more slowly.

P.S. When my 20 year old daughter wakes up this morning I'm giving her a big hug.
