Therapy

Yes, I admit it. When overwhelmed by heavy thoughts, I sometimes seek distraction in my local thrift shop. Lookie what I found! The coolest green shelf to hold my tea tins. And in the Last Chance Room, no less.

A dollar ninety-eight!...yeah, when I'm stressed, I'm out of control. But seriously, $1.98?

Personally, Ronald (may I call you Ronald?), wherever you are, I want you to know that I think your "Custom Made" handiwork is worth a lot more, and we promise to treasure it on our kitchen wall for years to come.

P.S. Hey Ron, who is M. Pecuich?

Ha! Jodi, you make me laugh. Definitely a steal at $1.98! It holds your tea tins beautifully! Sounds like perfect therapy to me (and way cheaper than seeing an actual thearpist.

Jodi, you are SO out of control!! Got to put a tight reign on you, girl.
Love it. Ron did excellent work.

Some creative Googling shows that a Michael Pecuich was a Vocational teacher at Chester Highschool in the 1950s and 1960s. Ronald Hlywak graduated from Chester High in 1966. Coincidence? Probably not.

Zach, that is SO cool! Once again, my mother's heart bursts with pride. You are a true historian.

Joy, yes the flowery one in the middle was given to me by someone with very good taste :)

Thanks, girls, for the tea tin love. They're still easy to find for cheap. They were originally candy tins--the bottoms usually say "Made in England". I found my very first one in a dump. The dump proprietor charged me a quarter for it. Sigh...

Hello Mrs. Jodi,
I love the pictures of the mini book shelf, the terra cota water pitcher and the untensil container. All of your pics that you post are so good!

In the last chance room no less! Almost seems you were drawn to this piece by Providence. Or something. I really like best that it was signed in black marker.

this is great, Jodi! I had googled and found that there is a Ronald Hywak age 60 in Wilmington, Delaware, but Zach was a better detective! I do like the way your tins look here, but don't know what the last chance room is. Haven't been reading your blog long enough, perhaps!

Kristi, the last chance room is a room in many thrift stores where they place items that no one has bought after they have been for sale for a certain amount of time and the price has been reduced several times. If it doesn't get bought from the last chance room it is sent back to the thrift store warehouse and trashed, recycled, or sent to another store for sale.

I have a tin with a Morton Salt picture on it from 1956. The tin isn't vintage, but the picture on it is. I put tea in it so it has become a tea tin.

This shelf is so lovely! It looks like it was meant for just that purpose! I can't believe you found it in the last chance room! and for such a great price too!!!

Has it soothed your heavy thoughts?

Hey Robin!

Chelsey, no, it's only a distraction. But God soothes my heavy thoughts, always. He is our hiding place.

My Grandma had the green tin on the bottom left. Can't remember what she had in it. Probably something absolutely outrageous, knowing her.

The shelves are perfect. A mercy purchase, for sure. If you plan anymore tin purchases, maybe you should contact Mr Hylwak for matching shelves.

Chelsey, I am very jealous! I've always loved the Morton Salt girl. My mom got me a good Morton Salt mug.
