Still in Progress

"Life cannot be divided into a spiritual part and a non-spiritual part. If Jesus Christ is indeed Lord, he must be Lord of all in every area."

Francis Schaeffer

A self-portrait of sorts, a work in progress, like me. Rough spots brushed smooth. Less shadow, more light, please. Paint, pray, play. I know my limitations, but I also know that You're greater than my limitations. Use everything, even my shortfalls, to bring You glory. I'm still reaching.

love the reach, both metaphotical and in the painting. And Jodi, your kind words at House of Belonging melt me.

This is beautiful -- especially with your telling the story behind it...

Is this a detail of a bigger painting? Trust me, I always want to see the rest of the story! I love the difference that the light makes.

I like the portrait, and the idea of our lives as oil on canvas.

Jodi, this is so gorgeous! I'm sorry you had trouble linking up to Playdates...was it on my end? Oh, dear, I will have to check in with mr. linky. But I am so glad you let me know so I could stop by and have my socks blessed off. Self portrait shows the beautiful you!

This is great, so full of hope and a deep deep level of confidence.

I've been thinking lately about how he not only uses 'even' our shortfalls, but 'especially' our shortfalls, to bring himself glory

So striking! Your reaching and upward gaze say a lot.
That is such a good Schaeffer quote.
Paint, pray, play. . . love that!

Your sense of color always makes me happy!

Hey, Cheryl. The painting is a detail from an old, vintage photo, taken by a photographer named Eidem. I talked about it before here: http://curiousacorn.blogspot.com/2009/10/reaping-time.html on an older post. I call it a self-portrait of sorts because of the gesture more than it looking like me. But I did alter it to make it look like me somewhat.

Thanks, everyone, for the encouragement. The challenge was the color, since the original photo was black and white.
