Now we are two

...well, almost. My blog birthday is technically not until tomorrow. But being only two, my self-control is still developing, and I WANT TO PLAY NOW!!! In true hobbit fashion, it is my pleasure to give you a present on my birthday. And I hope the lucky recipient enjoys these little tokens pictured below.

I wanted these things to represent the spirit of Curious Acorn, and what you'll find when you visit here, and to thank you for the back-and-forths, humor, tears, prayers, and genuine friendships that have sprouted and grown during the last two years.

The little tile shown below comes from one of my favorite haunts - the Moravian Pottery and Tile Works in Bucks County, Pennsylvania. Its founder, Henry Mercer, realized that with the advance of the Industrial Revolution, the old ways of making things were being lost. He made it his mission to see that these skills and processes were not forgotten. I like that.

Along with the tile and stand, there is also a small Wyeth painting magnet, a carved squirrel, a vintage tea tin, and a silver acorn.

All you need to do is to leave a comment on this post (lurkers, this includes you, so if you've never commented before, don't be shy now). Deadline is Friday July 22rd at 11:59PM EST. Next week I will pick one name out of a hat, and then this little package will wing its way to you, wherever you are in the world!

Just looking at the picture of these treasures brings a thrill of meaningful-beauty-pleasure! I honestly choke up to think of how you have blessed and nourished me in these two years. The world is more lovely and less lonely for many of us, I'm sure, because we know you're in it. Jesus bless you, richly, Jodi of the Curious Acorn Blog.

ME ME! I want to win!
I guess I'm more like an orc or something.

anyway, Jodi, I can't believe it's been (almost) two years. I love coming here, you remind me to LIVE and live fully and beautifully. And, you are such a friend. I pray for you daily. You have been a great example to me, an example of a thankful prayer warrior with tons of wisdom. Keep blogging! Don't stop! It's really making a difference.

Hugs and Kisses!

Jodi, congratulations on the 2nd birthday of your blog. I feel that I've been reading you much longer that two years....The tile is wonderfully beautiful, and I collect squirrels. (Just watched one in my white mulberry tree the other day. He seemed to be enthusiastically eating mulberries but my eyes are not as young as they once were. I was surprised because I thought that crop was over. I would love to be in the hat for your prize!

Happy birthday to you! I love preserving craftsmanship. My mother still hand quilts and my father does wood working. The fruits of their labor are such treasures in our home.

It is a joy to stop here, Jodi. You celebrate life and beauty in such a lovely way. Whenever I see bees humming around the garden I think of you tending to yours, loving them. Blessings!

When you first told me about your idea to blog, I didn't really get it (What do they call those folk who don't keep up with technology?) I quickly saw the amazing fruit that it's born in you and in those you squirrel your nuts for- us your devoted readers!

Your photos have developed enormously (Take the shot of the borage in your recent post as an example!)All your pics are stunning in content, composition, and quality, and regularly receive a gasp from multiple family members.

You write and paint like a poet, and it's such a privilege to access (whoa- high tech) the overflow of the work and play of your creative soul.

Your "ordinary life", your common bush, which all here will agree is inspired by a rich and passionate love, does reflect His staggering beauty.

Thank you, Curious Acorn!

Jodi, I have no idea how I found your blog, but I have been so blessed by you since we met. I love your heart, your love for beauty and your God, and your heart for others. I'm so glad that I have the lovely nut garland you sent me last fall; as I told you at the time, your gesture truly felt like a hug from our Father.
Thanks for being real, for being an encourager and for showing such gracious, gentle love to your friends, both real and imaginary! Congrats on your second blogiversary!

Happy anniversary and many happy returns (ie don't stop)! I love my visits to your blog. Always, always find something happy and interesting going on.

Pick me, pick me (jumping up and down with hand in the air - appropriate actions of a slightly younger blog). Is it just me or does the dachhund in the top photo not look real? That has to be a prop.

What lovely little gifts! Happy Blogiversary, Jodi! Your blog blesses me greatly. :)

Julie, no, I don't know the child in the photo. Found the photo tucked into an old book.

Cheryl, to me the doggie did look real until I noticed he was on a stand, which made me wonder, "was this once a beloved pet that had been preserved, so to speak?" Eek! Then I quickly tried to think about pretty, shiny things instead. The photo is actually an old postcard, and the copperplate writing on the back is exquisite. It will be part of the give-away.

Happy Birthday, Jodi! While these beauties would be heavenly to win, I feel as if I win every time I log on and see that you have a new post. I try to keep my on-line time to a minimum, therefore, I only read a few blogs. Curious Acorn has been a wonderful respite from the plethora of junk found on the world wide web....I thank you.
