Pleased

I've been singing Hark the Herald Angels Sing for years, but it wasn't until this Christmas that a particular phrase struck me, and hasn't left me yet. I can't stop pondering the weight of it--that He left His nobility behind, His rights as King and Lord of all. He was pleased. I know all of it goes far beyond what I'm expressing here, but I want to say thank you to my Father King and tell you I'm pleased. Pleased to belong to You. Pleased to find glimpses of heaven and blessings in even the smallest of things. And pleased to tell You that it's hard for me to get my mind around everything that is yet to come, and I sometimes feel as if my heart could explode with the anticipation of it all.

Counting blessings

473 - these words

474 - eating garnets for breakfast

475 - re-covery

476 - Audrey's paper stars

477 - honey in the comb

478 - hand-knit washcloths

479 - the perfume my sweetheart gave me - Noble - cool name. I hope it becomes more than just my scent

Love you, {Jodi Lenz}. (Another) one of your sharings that touched me in the deepest place inside~~where He makes His home in me, that I might be hidden in Him. Fellowship with you here (in this life), even from afar, makes me truly "pleased to find heaven and blessings in even the smallest of things. And pleased to tell Him that it's hard for me to get my mind around all that is yet to come, and sometimes I feel as if my heart could explode with the anticipation of it all.".

Pretty everything, in this post. xo

What a blessed thought -- "pleased as man with men to dwell." I don't think I ever really got what the song was saying. Thank you for sharing your insight.

Love honey in the cone!

Love you, Jewels. You must have been reading whilst I was re-editing hee-hee. That's ok. Thank you for sharing back.

Pamela, me neither. But I was mighty pleased to get it this time around.

Ooh, the chair and the eating garnets part. I ate garnets this week, too. Lovely list.

Eating garnets - love that. Love the whole post! Curious now (how appropriate) about the Noble scent! ~thanks for blogging~

That is a great line in the song. Love your beautiful photos. p.s. what chair is that?

Joy, Dad and I found it at a second-hand store last summer. I found a cool remnant and recovered the seat.

You know how dearly I love Christmas, so when I tell you Hark the Herald is my all-time favorite Christmas hymn, you know that means something! The line that gets me is, "Mild he lays his glory by, born that man no more may die." The lyrics are rich and life-giving. I hadn't really focused on the word "pleased" until you wrote about it here and wrote it in chalk :) Funny how hearing/seeing things in a different context makes them come alive somehow.

Just read in Daniel about God's people shining like stars. I think I would have liked the paper stars anyway, but now I like them even more. Love you.

I loved your words, "eating garnets" and seeing your beautiful golden honey! I am assuming it came from your very own hives, yes? I am a sucker for anything paper so I love that garland!

Jodi said...

Hi Jennifer, thanks! I wish I could say yes to my own hives. We couldn't harvest last year, but hopefully this summer. Mike and I treated ourselves to the jar from a local shop, a joint Christmas gift to each other. :)

Jodi, those words caught my attention too this year along with many others. I wrote about them here: http://winsomewoman.blogspot.com/2011/12/carols-revisited-3.html
The words of the carols are so rich. I'm considering using them to guide my devotions all year long. Can you imagine the depths one might find to celebrate Christmas 2012?!

I am a trying to knit a basketweave wash clothe - and it is driving me NUTS - for 2 years!

Still trying to also fathom God's kind of self-less love - and, like you say, it feels like my heart could burst - and my mind - could burst trying to understand it all.

Blue Cotton Memory - I feel ya. I've never managed to knit anything beyond a scarf. Knit and purl. Thanks for your comment. The washcloth was a most appreciated gift.

I keep forgetting how many I've knitted and how many I've pearled! I knit while I'm at soccer, doing spelling words - just to keep my hands busy so I don't go nuts!

Yes! {Pleased} Amazing. Thank you for lifting my eyes, this morning, dear Jodi. May His spirit dwell with you and with me, radiantly, today.
