Actively Waiting

Anonymous said...

Ah! To wait for Christmas!
To actively wait- to make ourselves ready for the coming of The Babe.

When my girls' were little, we rediscovered the custom you picture, Jodi (only, my wreath has never been hung and I never saw an angel looking over our shoulder- beautiful!)The girls' nostrils would flare as we lit each candle. Each week, more and more light would glow into our dark days.

The Advent wreath is one opportunity we've adopted to shift our pre holi-day focus from what we are going to give to what we need to receive in order to be able to give away joy, hope, and love at Christmas.
All of our grumpy bickerings and unsettlings
are quieted as we 'take' time to pray and listen to the Hope that the gathering light foretells.

Happy Advent!

Ooh! I love that the wreath is a chandelier! I love the Advent season!
4 weeks of Advent + 12 days of Christmas= 1 way better holiday than the other religions have to offer (and that's not even counting Easter!)
