For he's a jolly good fellow

"There is nothing better than a friend, unless it is a friend with chocolate.”
~~Charles Dickens

"Or ginger slice, for that matter."
~~Curious Acorn

Happy birthday, Charles Dickens!

P.S. Speaking of birthdays, my daughter Joy is having a birthday giveaway at her blog Paper Canary.

Did he really say that? Just one more reason to read his books. I so agree with Dickens...and you....but that goes without saying. Oh those sparrows!

I just saw that it was his birthday on Google. Yes, happy birthday to the man who knew how to spin a yarn.

1. What is the food item?
2. Is it yummy?
3. If it is yummy (see 2.) then we need the recipe.

(Did I just tell you all that I discovered Graham cake a few weeks ago? - super yum!)

My eldest girl is reading Oliver Twist right now:)
I know I said this last time, but I thought it again when I clicked here: LOVE the photo of you in the banner. Whatever you were eating was popular in a fun way!

That first shot looks so delicious, and then, what a delightful surprise!

Thanks Bron, the angle that the picture is taken makes it look like cake rather than a slice (there is a difference - but both are pastries).
Do please describe its layers.
