"Some place cool an' green an' shady..."

Lalala, good old John Denver. That song's been going through my mind for days. A soul longing for rest, I think. We've been awfully busy with family obligations regarding an ailing parent. And it's right that we attend to them. But the man and I, in need of a break, have been dreaming of a day away. A little country back-road ride mayhaps? I got a bit of an "easy afternoon" today, for which I'm grateful.

This is my favorite warm weather spot for prayer and reading.

Been collecting a nice little reading pile for when I have free time.

Hmm...Percy Shelley's an interesting character. Lalala, "find yourself a piece of grassy ground, lay down, close your eyes. Find yourself or maybe lose yourself while your free spirit flies..."

P.S. I've been so behind in my blogging, both writing and reading. Hope to get back on track. And, don't forget, this coming July will be the ever Curious Acorn's 3rd birthday! And I'll be celebrating with another giveaway. Woot!

So happy to see you!! Great pile of books you've got there. . . happy for you to have an afternoon to enjoy in your spot. Replenishment is important! I always remember John Denver from when I was a little girl and thought he looked like a little boy even though he was a man. I smile when I think about my little girl mind:)

My brother used to play that exact John Denver song - usually right in the middle of finals week when he was in college or medical school - and he would lie back in the armchair and take a little 15 minute break, no doubt dreaming of summer vacation... It just captures the feeling of it. Hope you get a little time to relax in the midst of what I'm sure is a stressful and busy time... And by the way, I like those smokin' red nails! ;o)

Love John Denver. My future hubby took me to see him in Fort Worth in 1975. I was a teen too.

The titles of your books almost run like song lyrics, but with a different tune!

Love the cascade of nasturtiums in your special reading spot. Is that trough decorated with broken crockery? It looks beautiful.

Beth, thank you. And thanks for sharing the story about your brother. That's a nice memory to have. And as a granny, I'll take the description "smokin'" anytime :)

Sugar Moon, thank you for being a teen as well ha ha

Cheryl, you're right about the book titles, or maybe they could be band names. Thanks about the nasturtiums. When I sit in that chair I catch the scent of them, and it's very pleasant. You have a good eye - the window box is covered with broken crockery. It's years old - a few pieces have fallen off, but it's still holding up very well.

John Denver. Yes. "My Sweet Lady" was sung at our wedding in 1980. ;)

Praying for you as you care for an ailing parent. Time to refresh your spirit. Praying you get that chance this weekend.

I had John Denver's Annie sang at my wedding. I named my oldest Annie. I am behind on blog reading. I have a pile of books I wanna read. Ailing parent and spending time with my grands is where I seem to be. It is a good thing. One of these days I will bring my pile of books and join you in that lovely spot.

Jodi, I have so much to say! First, I love your red nail polish and the blue book. Lovely, I must say. Love your reading spot. Yummy.
I love John Denver. My mom used to put on a John Denver record at night when we were going to sleep and we could hear it from the living room, down the hall to our rooms. Also, being a desert girl, I love the song, "Cool and Green and Shady" (or whatever its real title it) because I could not IMAGINE such a place in real life. To me, it was only in books. So, when I was 11, we took a trip across country and stopped in upstate NY to family and my mom's homeland. I felt that I had stepped into a book where it was cool and green and shady. Now I live in a place that is such...for a few more weeks.
Sorry for the long comment...just had to share.
